One of the environmental issues the world facing today is Wildfire. Due to global warming, warmer temperatures increase the likelihood that fires will burn more intensely. Parched grass or fallen leaves often fuel surface fires. Aside from the damage of our landforms, it has great effect on the Earth’s atmosphere and climate change.
To prevent this to happen, and as part of Fire Prevention Month Celebration, CBMP extends its helping hand to Makiling Botanic Gardens to facilitate a Forest Clean Up Drive. This aims to preserve and maintain the good condition of the forest by sweeping off the fallen leaves. The activity was held last March 19, 2021 by 12 CBMP Volunteers and able to sweep leaves approximately 20 kgs.
Note: During the conduct of the activity volunteers observe government and company health protocols against COVID 19.

Molawin River or also known as Molawin Creek, is a minor tributary of Laguna Lake that can be found at the town of Los Baños in Laguna Province. The lake is the largest lake in the Philippines and one of the primary sources of freshwater fish in the country. Its water drains to Manila Bay via the Pasig River. At least 18 fish species are known from Laguna de Bay; none are strictly endemic to the lake, but 3 are endemic to the Philippines: Gobiopterus lacustris, Leiopotherapon plumbeus and Zenarchopterus philippinus. Aquaculture is widespread in Laguna de Bay, but often involves non-native species. Some of these have escaped and have become invasive species, representing a threat to the native fish.
Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc. initiated to clean the Molawin Creek to maintain and preserve the aquaculture in Laguna de Bay last February 27, 2021 at Makiling Botanic Gardens. 10 Selected CBMP Volunteers from different departments in partnership with Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems, they were able to collect approximately 10 kgs of plastic waste found around the Molawin Creek.
Note: During the conduct of the activity volunteers observe government and company health protocols against COVID 19.
